This amazing wild cat is a Manul, also known as Pallas’s Cat. It is native of Central Asia and is one of the first two cats that have evolved into the modern cats we know today (the other one is now extinct). That was approximately twelve million years ago and the Manul hasn’t changed since! So you are looking at a prehistorical cat! The Manul is very close in size to the domestic cat, about 26 inches in length, but it’s very lengthy and thick fur, coupled with its stocky body shape, makes it appear much larger. I don’t know if you have noticed, but the Manul’s pupils are round and not slit like the domestic cat, it also has smaller ears & shorter legs, which means it is a lot slower than your cat at home! Unfortunately, the Manul is considered near extinct mostly due to hunting for it’s fur.
