Cats in Boxes

Why do cats like boxes so much? What’s the attraction? Well, first of all, cats like boxes because they are cryptic animals and they like to hide but also the box is a great place to hide from predators. It gives them a place of safety and security. When cats are in a box, they can’t be approached from any sides or the top without being aware of it, so they can sit in the box, watch the world around them and feel safe and invisible and if they see something interesting they can dash out of the box to investigate then run back in and feel safe and secure again. A box is also a perfect set up to stalk a possible prey that happens to walk by, like your ankle for example! So next time your receive a package in the mail or a gift, don’t be so quick at throwing the box in the recycling bin, it could be the best gift you ever gave your cat!
