Nutrition is important to many pet owners, including myself. Often, price and availability are factors as well. Did you know that affordable nutritious food options are becoming more and more available? With grain-free food becoming increasingly important to many pet owners, conveniently located stores such as PetSmart are carrying more and more healthy pet foods, many of which are grain free and won’t break the bank.
We feed grain-free food for a couple of reasons. First, Eve has a sensitive stomach that just can’t handle the fiber from grains. When she eats grains, she gets sick. Second, Ty has lymphoma, and grains convert to sugar in the body, which is a favorite food of cancer cells. So, Ty gets entirely grain-free food and treats. Third, grains simply are just not necessary to a dog’s diet. They often act as filler in foods, and I would rather feed my dogs something that is more nutritious. If you ever wanted to switch to a grain-free food, now is a great time to do so because there are so many affordable options these days! Eve and I took a shopping trip to PetSmart in search of affordable healthy pet food and checked out the Nature’s Recipe® Aisle to see what was available. Finding Nature’s Recipe was easy. There was a nice big sign!

There were plenty of grain-free options as well, which is a requirement for me. Eve has a sensitive tummy, so easily digested formulas without grains are a must for us.
There are a wide range of options available such as kibble, single serve moist food containers, and cans. So, there is something for everyone, and all have an affordable price point around the same price as supermarket brands.

We picked up a bag of kibble, which I like to use as treats, especially in things like treat toys and canine brain games. Plus we got some moist food.Ty was definitely curious about it when we got home.

When we fed kibble, we stayed away from grain products too. Mr. N likes super meaty things!
We are a grain-free pet food house as well! One of the kitties has an intolerance to grain, and as with dogs, it is completely unnecessary to a cat’s diet. We will have to look into Nature’s Recipe and see what their cat food is like! Thanks for the info.
It’s so hard to find good food that isn’t expensive! Grain-free is the way to go when you’re feeding kibble, dogs seem to enjoy it more, too!

Grain free is good for sensitive tum-tums! My sister’s tummy is super sensitive, and so we do rotational diets, little bits by little bits, and that seems to help. So this Natures Recipe sounds like something we could try!

It’s great that Nature’s Recipe has different formula’s designed for different health issues or needs. This definitely a good option for pet parents looking for a better quality food than what they can find at the grocery store without going broke in the process!
I’ll have to check out the cat recipes. Carmine also has a sensitive stomach, and we are always looking for canned food he will like to eat and won’t upset his tummy. Thank you for sharing this with us!
Grain free is also very important in our house due to skin allergies – the grain-free approach seems to help control all of the itching! I also like that the food comes in wet and dry versions; our shih tzu is quite picky and will only eat if there is wet and dry food mixed together in her bowl!

I’ve noticed a big difference in one of my dog’s when I switched her to a grain-free diet.
