Note: Some Pets no longer recommends pet food and no longer covers kibble or any treats or food that contain high levels of filler grains, necessary ingredients, or sugar. This post was written previous to that change.
Nutrition is important to many pet owners, including myself. Often, price and availability are factors as well. Did you know that affordable nutritious food options are becoming more and more available? With grain-free food becoming increasingly important to many pet owners, conveniently located stores such as PetSmart are carrying more and more healthy pet foods, many of which are grain free and won’t break the bank.
We feed grain-free food for a couple of reasons. First, Eve has a sensitive stomach that just can’t handle the fiber from grains. When she eats grains, she gets sick. Second, Ty has lymphoma, and grains convert to sugar in the body, which is a favorite food of cancer cells. So, Ty gets entirely grain-free food and treats. Third, grains simply are just not necessary to a dog’s diet. They often act as filler in foods, and I would rather feed my dogs something that is more nutritious. If you ever wanted to switch to a grain-free food, now is a great time to do so because there are so many affordable options these days! Eve and I took a shopping trip to PetSmart in search of affordable healthy pet food and checked out the Nature’s Recipe® Aisle to see what was available. Finding Nature’s Recipe was easy. There was a nice big sign!
For more than 30 years, Nature’s Recipe has provided pets with ideal nutrition drawn from nature’s inherent goodness. The brand crafts its recipes to make every ingredient count™. They are committed to providing nutritionally vibrant recipes for your pet’s daily needs with items for both dogs and cats. Cat Food recipes are protein packed and include grain-free formulas for a healthy diet everyday. Meanwhile, dog food recipes are crafted to help provide specific nutritional or functional benefits, and contain no artificial colors or preservatives. Eve did an up close and personal inspection. She loves to shop!
Notice that there are recipes for specific concerns such as promoting healthy skin. There are also life stages recipes tailored specifically to your dog’s life stage, from puppies to seniors.
There were plenty of grain-free options as well, which is a requirement for me. Eve has a sensitive tummy, so easily digested formulas without grains are a must for us.
There are a wide range of options available such as kibble, single serve moist food containers, and cans. So, there is something for everyone, and all have an affordable price point around the same price as supermarket brands.
Eve gives Nature’s Recipe her shopping corgi seal of approval!
We picked up a bag of kibble, which I like to use as treats, especially in things like treat toys and canine brain games. Plus we got some moist food.Ty was definitely curious about it when we got home.
Nature’s Recipe is available online via PetSmart.com and at your local PetSmart store.
