Disclosure: NomNomNow provided me with food and compensation for this post. However, all opinions are my own.

Over the past month, Eve tried NomNomNow, a new fresh-made dog food. NomNomNow is delivered in prepackaged individual portions, ready to eat. It is fresh food, made with human-grade ingredients sourced in the US, and is certified by Veterinarian Dr. Justin Shmalberg, who is a top pet nutritionist. This is a cooked fresh-ingredient diet.
Signing Up
The first step in the process was signing up. This was really simple. I just went to the NomNomNow Website, filled out a profile, picked the food, and it arrived about a week later. The site guides you through ordering, and you can account for weight loss goals and your dog’s activity level. I chose the chicken formula for Eve because it is grain free. Grains of any sort tends to mess with Eve’s sensitive tummy.
NomNomNow is normally shipped weekly to nine Western states, but national shipping is in beta. I am in Illinois, so they sent me a full month’s worth of meals. I put the first week in the refrigerator and froze the rest. When ordering, a delivery date is provided, and I was sent regular tracking updates. It is easy to set the delivery for recurring shipments or to cancel at any time.

Delivery and Transition
Delivery was right on time. The food arrived cold packed with no problems even though it was summer. Eve was very interested in the box, which I’m sure smelled like delicious chicken!

Here is an obligatory corgi butt shot!

I pulled the packets out of the box and sorted them in to weekly groups. NomNomNow provided one week of transition meals in which a certain percentage of Eve’s old food would be mixed in. That first week went in the refrigerator and the rest went in in the freezer packaged in shopping bags containing one week’s worth of food. Because they are packaged flat, they took up very little freezer space.
Here is a look at the well-marked transition packets.

The full size packages are easy to store. Each package tears opens easily without the need for scissors. From there, just puff it out at the sides and empty it into a bowl (this is easier than squeezing it out). It makes feeding super easy.

Eve transitioned easily. She had no tummy issues and loved the food.
Formula and Feeding
As I mentioned, I chose the Chicken Chow Wow Formula for Eve. Like all of the formulas, it is fresh cooked with human-grade ingredients. What I also love is the absence of a lot of preservatives, fillers and just general “stuff” (for lack of a better word) that you often see in dog food. It is nice a mix of just a few basic ingredients: Chicken, sweet potato, yellow squash, spinach, a nutrient mix, and fish oil. The nutrient mix is was developed Dr. Shmalberg to provide perfectly balanced nutrients for all life stages. It includes choline bitartrate, zinc gluconate, ferrous sulfate, Vitamin E supplement, copper gluconate, manganese gluconate, thiamine mononitrate (Vitamin B1), riboflavin (Vitamin B2), selenium chelate, sodium iodide, cyanocobalamin (Vitamin B12), and cholecalciferol (Vitamin D3).
I love that carbs account for only 14% of the formula. I am a fan of higher protein and fat diets for dogs and like to see carbs limited to a few vegetable sources if possible. You can view the other formulas and their nutritional information on the NomNomNow Website.
I also love that you can see that this is real food. Eve’s old food, which, while I do still consider it to be good quality, looks like a green mess. NomNomNow looks like this. I like this look much better. You can tell that there isn’t a ton of processing going on with this. It is simply real food.

Eve’s Reaction
Eve’s response to the food was phenomenal. Eve loved the taste and always devoured it. It was also easy to add her powder and oil supplements to it. I simply put them on the food with a splash of water and stirred.
One of the main things I noticed after the transition was just how much less Eve was pooping. Her previous food was high quality and something I still like, but it clearly had more “stuff” in it that was bulking up her stools. On NomNomNow, Eve’s stools were super compact and easy to dispose of. Yep, talking about poop is always an important part of a food review! Eve’s coat and activity levels were great while on the food, and overall we were very happy with it. Since ending the month, Eve returned to her old food, but only because we already had a brand new very large package of it to use up. Once that is gone, I plan to switch her back to NomNomNow. It costs a bit more per month than her old food, but I feel that it is better for her overall.

I’ve heard a lot of things about NomNomNow and they have all been nothing but good! I have somepicky eaters that would or would not like this but it might just be worth a shot.
Oh, this looks seriously convenient! The fact that you can order a monthly shipment, and simply freeze the balance after one week’s worth sounds fabulous. I love that we can order fresh, human-grade goodness for our pets now, as they so deserve. And that box packaging is so adorable too! Thank you for sharing:) Leanne – The Long Leash
I love your post. How helpful of you to give an idea of what the ordering process is like. I have never seen this done and it is so useful.
This food is certainly proving popular with dog owners – I feel quite jealous!
I love that they do transition meals and take the guesswork out, especially for newer dog owners who don’t normally transition properly. Sounds like great ingredients and a super healthy alternative to traditional “dog food”
This looks AMAZING! I can understand why Eve devoured it, it’s as if you prepared it in the kitchen, yourself!
Rotating your dog’s diet is very important. After reading your review of NOMNOMNOW, I will certainly consider adding this food to Gusto’s diet. I would like to know more about how it is processed though first. Thank you for sharing.
I’m so excited for my dogs to try this. Their first box arrives next week. Ordering was very easy!
Gonzo and Beau love NomNomNow! We too had the monthly deliveries and I love how you organized them into weekly packages to defrost. Very smart!
Babu threw up yesterday and I suspect it is something about his food or something he picked up on his walk. Anyway, we are thinking of trying something new for him and Nomnom now certainly looks like what we could use for our picky eater.
I’m so happy Eve liked her food trial with NomNomNow. I’m sure she thought she was pretty special with all the attention over her new yummy food. Your comments about food were pretty funny. As gross as it is, poop is one of the best ways I have found to assess my dog’s health, particularly since they are raw fed. Great post!
I’ve read a lot about this food and everyone seems to enjoy it. Glad it worked for Eve
I’ve recently heard about Nom Nom and seems like it’s a hit! Love the Corgi butt shot, LOL. Glad Eve loved it. I like the convenience of the home delivery and individualized portioned packages. That’ makes it really easy for pet parents.
