Bath time for the corgis is always a bit of an adventure. Eve doesn’t mind baths, but Ty despises them. He gets pretty impatient about shampooing and he doesn’t hold still very well to get lathered up. He also tends to get itchy skin from allergies and needs shampoos formulated for that.
The Honest Kitchen made bath time much easier for the corgis and I when they sent me one of their new Sparkle Bars Shampoo bars to try. As a beauty blogger, I have tried shampoo bars on myself before (I love the ones from Lush), but had not tried one for dogs. The Honest Kitchen sent me the Diatomaceous Earth, Calendula, Comfrey and Aloe bar. This bar is formulated for dogs with skin irritation, hot spots and itching. That is Ty right now with his allergies! It is formulated with a calming combination of silica-rich diatomaceous earth, healing calendula and anti-fungal comfrey.
I gave Ty a bath with the bar and loved it for several reasons. First, the bar lathered very well and easily. Instead of having to rub liquid shampoo on a squirming dog, I could just rub the bar all over him, which was much easier. Second, everything rinsed off pretty well too, while liquid shampoo sometimes does not rinse off as quickly as I would like. Third, I love the ingredient list, with lots of moisturizing and soothing agents. Plus it has Diatomaceous Earth, which is good for repelling fleas as well. Since Ty has lymphoma, I am looking for all natural options to keep him free of pests, as chemicals can trigger an immune response that could have an effect on his remission. Over all this is a nice shampoo option for any dog to make bath time a bit easier and more comfortable.

I have never used a bar soap for my baby, but this sounds like a good one. I will look for this.
Mr. N gets itchy too with his allergies. I’ll have to look into this one after we finish the two, three(?) bottles of shampoo we already have lol.
Ooh this is soothing just hearing about the ingredients. Kilo hates baths but has no skin issues so far – still nice to have good options. My friend’s Frenchie has very itchy skin so I’ll definitely let him know.
We need to look into this for our woofie cousin, Bandit. He has a lot of problems with itchy skin.

These bars sound really easy to use! I love that they have so many great ingredients. These sound like they are chemical free too. I would definitely try these if I had a dog.
I like the fact that you can just rub the bar right onto your dog, making it much easier. I also like that it has non-allergenic properties but can also repel pests, that is important. I’m glad Ty is doing well and that this soap is helpful for him.

I love THK products and that is the food (one of them) that Dex eats. Plus he is mostly white in color so this is a paw-fect product.
