Eve’s Special Spa Day With #PetSmartGrooming

My Corgi, Eve, loves spa days. She is one of the few dogs I have known that truly seems to love a bath. She is also a social butterfly, so going to the groomer is a super special day for her. She loves it! I call her my little Diva Corgi Princess – born to look pretty, socialize, and model for the camera! That is why we were quite excited to have the opportunity to try the full grooming services at PetSmart and share our experience. I have taken Eve to PetSmart before for nail trims, but she had never had a full spa day there before.

Eve Before Her PetSmart Grooming

We certainly needed the full Grooming services on Eve’s spa day. Corgis are known for shedding, and Eve was having a lot of shedding coming from her undercoat, which resulted in little tufts of hair everywhere.  Her nails were also overdue for a trim. Further, she always has had incredibly hairy foot pads. To top it off, she conveniently rolled in the dirt that morning, but then she does that almost daily.  When we arrived at PetSmart, the very nice and helpful groomer held Eve while she impatiently posed for the camera. She wanted  to socialize with her new friends instead of model at that time!

So, in case you didn’t believe me about Eve’s hairy feet. Here is a closeup look. This dog grows hair on her feet faster than any dog I have ever seen. Her nails grow incredibly fast as well, plus she likes to chew them into sharp little points. Hence why she had already met the PetSmart groomers in the past for nail trims. I don’t think Eve liked showing off her embarrassingly hairy feet for the camera much.

The PetSmart Grooming Experience

PetSmart was conveniently located, and I was able to make my grooming appointment online, which I really like. I signed up for a bath and FURminator brushing, with additional nail grinding.The grooming facility was bright and clean, and full of friendly staff. I could tell that the associates and groomers really loved dogs, and they gushed over Eve and gave her lots of attention, which she of course loved. The PetSmart associates communicated with me very well too, explaining what they would be doing, how long it would take, and the costs of services, which happen to be quite affordable.

The PetSmart grooming center offers a wide variety of services, including unique items, such as chalking. It got me wondering what Eve might look like with pink feet!

Our dog bath and brush package included:

• Oxygen-infused bath
• Shampoo washing & blow dry
• 15-minute brushing
• Nail trim
• Ear cleaning, hair removal & flushing (if needed)
• Scissoring feet & pad shaving
• Sanitary trim
• Anal gland cleaning

The add-on FURminator package included FURminator low-shed shampoo, FURminator deShedding™ solution, and up to 20 minutes of brushing with the FURminator Tool. Then we also added nail grinding.

Eve got her nails trimmed and dremmeled up front and then happily headed to the back with her new friends for her bath. The staff took my phone number in order to call me when Eve was completely done and ready to go home.

After PetSmart Grooming

When I picked Eve up a few hours later, she looked fabulous! All of her hair tufts were gone, her corgi pants were soft and fluffy, her nails trim, ears cleaned (super duper extra clean), and she had nice smooth paw pads. She also got a special fall theme bandanna and clip-on collar tag.

Remember those hairy feet and long nails?  This is sooooo much better!

The bandanna was a really nice extra touch, especially since it was specifically seasonal instead of a generic item. Petsmart actually had several that I could choose from.

Eve’s fur was incredibly soft from her bath and brush, and the FURminator add-on really works wonders. I am writing this ten days after Eve’s grooming day and she is still not really shedding, still is super soft, and her coat still looks beautiful and fluffy. We definitely will be going back to PetSmart for full service grooming again in the future.

About The PetSmart Groomers

Al lot of training goes on for PetSmart groomers. An acquaintance of mine is a PetSmart groomer, and I often saw her posting on social media about her extensive training, especially in order for her to be able to give cuts and trims.  All PetSmart, salon associates acquire annual safety certification and take additional course work where they learn about dog anatomy, signs of stress and common pet medical conditions. Groomers, which are those who give haircuts, receive an additional 400 hours of hands-on training. This photo shows the clip-on collar tag that Eve got fairly well. It was a nice extra touch.
